UFC superstar Conor McGregor has responded to all the talks and accusations against him getting fighters removed from the upcoming season of TUF. And not surprisingly, he did it in typical McGregor fashion – by thrashing his haters with a social media post. In a fresh post on Instagram, the 34-year-old finally addressed the rumors of him snubbing numerous fighters on TUF. While not denying any of the news, he seemingly accepted the claims by stating that he could have cut a lot more if he wanted to.
Fighters express their disappointment at McGregor
After news of McGregor getting a number of fighters removed so that his guys could make the cut started doing the rounds, top fighters like Gilbert Burns and Terrance McKinney didn’t waste time in sharing their opinions on the topic. Burns especially appeared to have taken issue with the news as he tweeted how his friend Loik Radzhabov was one of the fighters who got cut upon McGregor’s orders.
Apart from Burns, Middleweight Chris Curtis was also quite disappointed and even went on to call the former double champ an as****e on Twitter.
Conor McGregor responds to accusations in brutal fashion
Responding to all the talks of him cutting many of the fighters from the original line-up, ‘The Notorious’ posted an image of him beside John Kavanagh, accompanied by a caption that bore a certain sarcastic tone to it.
The caption read: “Good practice, team! Ok, it’s time for the easiest part of any coach’s job.. the cuts. Now, while I wasn’t able to cut everyone I wanted to, I have cut a lot of you. Wendell is cut. Rudy is cut. Janey, you’re gone. Stephen, I like your hustle. That’s why it was so hard to cut you. Congratulations! The rest of you made the team! Except you, you and you.”
It remains to be seen which names McGregor will replace as the season starts. Undoubtedly, he would prefer to have a few of his guys representing Ireland and SBG in the TUF house.
The 31st season of TUF will be available to watch exclusively on ESPN starting on Tuesday, May 30.
